Leading up to Week 5, the Las Vegas Raiders saw Ashton Jeanty go from a full participant on Wednesday, to limited on Thursday, and finally a DNP on Friday.

Those practice reports led to real questions about Jeanty’s health, but he played in Week 5, though he wasn’t very good on the ground. But, heading into Week 6, a rumor from ESPN’s Dan Graziano pointed towards the Raiders resting Jeanty for a week.

However, Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak shared a succinct two-word response to those rumors to Raiders reporter Levi Edwards, which was simply: “He’s playing.”

Raiders HC shuts down Ashton Jeanty rest rumors

“Klint Kubiak was asked about internal discussions of resting Ashton Jeanty this week. He shut it down with a sly grin. ‘He’s playing,'” Edwards reports Wednesday.

Despite the initial rumor spreading about how the Raiders might be benching Jeanty for a week to get him healthy, this update from Kubiak points to the opposite of that happening.

He doesn’t outright deny that the Raiders had those internal discussions, but it seems that the Raiders are going to stick with Jeanty as the team’s running back, despite an ankle injury hampering his play, as Jeanty doesn’t want to come off the field right now.

Kubiak and the Raiders are seemingly trusting Jeanty and standing by their top-10 drafted running back from the 2025 NFL Draft.

While giving Jeanty a week off to rest would make sense for the Raiders, this update from Kubiak makes it clear they currently have no plans to do so.

If Jeanty is too banged up to play, then he’ll sit. But, barring further injury, it seems likely that Jeanty will stick on the field this season, playing through this ankle injury.

Mike Washington Jr. and Dylan Laube will stick as the backups to Jeanty in Week 6 barring a surprise, as Kubiak’s making it clear Jeanty will keep playing.
