The Chicago Bears have been operating their offense these last few weeks without Caleb Williams. A combination of Tyson Bagent and Case Keenum has held down the fort since Williams’ Week 2 injury.

Keenum and Bagent both got a win, but in Week 5 the Bears were blown out by the Green Bay Packers. After such a bad beatdown, it was clear this team needed Williams back.

Fortunately, Ben Johnson told reporters, including ESPN’s Courtney Cronin, that in their estimated Wednesday practice report, Williams would be a full participant. This news bodes well for Williams to return in Week 6 to face the Atlanta Falcons.

Bears announce big Caleb Williams news that bodes well for Week 6 return

“Caleb Williams will be listed as a full participant on the injury report today,” Cronin reports. “The Bears are conducting a walk thru, so the injury report is an estimation. Their first real practice is tomorrow.”

While the Bears’ first practice of the week isn’t until Thursday, this report from the Bears on Wednesday is some massive news that bodes well for Williams to come back this week.

Williams has missed three games, and if he were to miss a fourth, it might’ve made more sense for the Bears to place him on injured reserve to preserve a roster spot.

But it appears likely now that the Bears will be getting Williams back after only three weeks, which would prove they were right not to place him on injured reserve earlier this year.

Getting Williams back would, obviously, be huge. That’s especially the case following Week 5, in which both Bagent and Keenum struggled against a weaker Packers defense.

Seeing how practice goes on Thursday and Friday will be huge for Williams, but as of now, it’s trending in the right direction for Williams to suit up in Week 6 for the Bears against a solid Falcons team that’s also dealing with some uncertainty at QB this week.
