The Cleveland Browns are set to hold a quarterback competition in training camp involving Kenny Pickett, Joe Flacco, Dillon Gabriel, and Shedeur Sanders.
With Deshaun Watson’s status for the 2025 campaign in doubt due to an Achilles’ injury, the Browns were incredibly active in the quarterback market this offseason. However, the team could be looking for a new starting signal-caller once again next offseason, as Pickett and Flacco will be free agents, and Gabriel and Sanders likely aren’t long-term answers.
Draft Shark’s Shane Hallam predicts the Browns will spend a first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft on their hopeful franchise quarterback in South Carolina signal-caller LaNorris Sellers, which would likely end the Sanders era in Cleveland.
“Sellers has the athleticism of Jalen Milroe — but at 20 pounds heavier. He also has flashed much better accuracy and ball placement at South Carolina,” Hallam wrote.
Sellers is far from a finished product and still needs to develop as a passer, but the 19-year-old has all the tools to be a game-changer at the next level.
After backing up Spencer Rattler in 2023, Sellers got his chance as the starter in 2024, and played well, tossing 18 touchdowns to seven interceptions with seven rushing touchdowns. He also tallied 2,534 passing yards and 674 rushing yards with a 65.6% completion rate.
If Sellers can take the next step in 2025, he’ll be one of the top quarterbacks in the 2026 class and a surefire first-round pick. The Browns, who need some excitement and mobility at quarterback, would be a logical landing spot for Sellers in next year’s draft.
