The Jacksonville Jaguars reportedly have a young receiver available for trade and that should be of interest to the San Francisco 49ers, Buffalo Bills and Las Vegas Raiders.
According to SNY’s Connor Hughes, the Jaguars have changed their stance and are now willing to trade former first-round pick and wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr.
“SOURCES: The Jaguars are entertaining offers for WR Brian Thomas, SNY has learned,” Hughes reported.
You may remember Thomas’ name coming up in trade rumors before last year’s deadline, but the Jags weren’t willing to deal him.
Thomas had an explosive rookie campaign when he posted over 1,200 yards and 10 touchdowns for Jacksonville, but he came crashing down to Earth last season and struggled with both drops and injury.
Even still, he’s only 24 years old and on a cheap rookie contract. In fact, the team that acquires Thomas would take on $2.1 million and $2.8 million guaranteed in each of the next two years before his fifth-year option.
There should be plenty of teams interested in his services, including the San Francisco 49ers, Buffalo Bills and Las Vegas Raiders.
It’s already clear after one day of free agency that the Raiders are all in on building around Fernando Mendoza, which is obviously the right strategy. However, Vegas remains short-handed at wide receiver with a room that includes Jalen Nailor, Tre Tucker, and 2025 draft picks Jack Bech and Dont’e Thornton.
In Buffalo, the trade for DJ Moore was a definite plus, but Buffalo still needs more depth behind Moore and Khalil Shakir, as Keon Coleman and Joshua Palmer are anything but reliable.
The 49ers made their own significant move by bringing in Mike Evans but that’s hardly sufficient for a Niners team that only has Evans and Ricky Pearsall.
Hughes suggests Thomas can be had for a second-round pick.
That would be a problem for Buffalo after giving up their 2026 second-rounder for Moore, but the 49ers and Raiders both have theirs.
