The Tennessee Titans reportedly have the attention of two high-profile free agents.
According to Titans beat writer Terry McCormick, Cincinnati Bengals pending free agent Trey Hendrickson and Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs both have Tennessee on their radars in free agency.
“Trey Hendrickson and Romeo Doubs are two of the big-time free agents who have the Titans on their radar. But the issue may be how much and how many big ticket items the Titans will spend on early in free agency,” McCormick reported.
It’s not hard to see why this is the case.
While the Titans are rebuilding, they do have a boatload of cap space, with Over The Cap projecting Tennessee to have $92.6 million going into free agency, the second-most in the NFL.
That means Tennessee can pay both players the lucrative, long-term deals they are seeking without an issue. Estimates say Hendrickson could land a $25 million per year deal, while Doubs could net around $15 million annually.
Tennessee has needs at both edge rusher and wide receiver, so it makes sense for them to sign one or both.
The Titans acquired Jermaine Johnson in a trade with the New York Jets, but they still have a vacancy on the other side that Hendrickson would fill in a big way.
Meanwhile, at wide receiver, the Titans have Calvin Ridley and not much else. Doubs would instantly slot in as a No. 2 receiver and provide a helping hand to former No. 1 overall pick, Cam Ward.
