South Carolina’s SCHSL boys basketball playoffs wrapped up Saturday with state champions crowned across six playoff classifications in the Palmetto State.
The Ridge View [Columbia] Blazers collected their third straight championship trophy after defeating the Ashley Ridge [Summerville] Swamp Foxes, 65-44, in the Class AAAAA Division I championship game. Ridge View won the championship last year in a 74-47 win over the Blythewood Bengals, and they also won the Class 4A title in 2024.
The Class AAAAA Division II crown went to the Westwood [Blythewood] Redhawks who took down the division’s defending champion Greenville Red Raiders in a 67-55 victory. Greenville won the title a year ago in an 81-71 win over the Goose Creek Gators, but were unable to defend that title against a gritty Westwood squad that finished 25-3.
Two other SCHSL squads were making return trips to the finals, including Class AAAA’s North Augusta Yellowjackets and Class AA’s High Point Academy [Spartanburg] Grizzlies. Both squads lost in their respective title game appearances a year ago, and unfortunately for High Point Academy, they were unable to turn the tables against the Philip Simmons [Charleston] Iron Horses, losing in heartbreaking fashion for the second year in a row. The Grizzlies lost, 50-46, one year after falling, 58-52, to the Atlantic Collegiate Academy [Conway] Armada in the title tilt.
High Point’s heartbreak, however, was Philip Simmons’ elation as the Iron Horses won the first state championship in school history.

While High Point lost for the second straight year in a title game, North Augusta was able to outrun the South Pointe [Rock Hill] Stallions, 64-55, in the Class AAAA championship game one year after losing, 69-55, to the Lancaster Bruins.
The city of North Augusta actually had two schools playing for state titles, but the Fox Creek Predators were unable to join their neighbors in the Class AAA winner’s circle, coming up on the short end of a 52-49 score against the Christ Church Episcopal [Greenville] Cavaliers.
The C.A. Johnson [Columbia] Hornets, meanwhile, defeated the Bethune-Bowman [Orangeburg] Mohawks, 70-64, in the Class A title game.
