CHATSWORTH, California, March 7 — Sierra Canyon has spent much of the year in the national top 10 of The Sporting News boys basketball rankings, and the Trailblazers can take another step toward a California Open Division state championship Saturday night.
And they’ll face a team they beat, 70-47, barely two weeks ago to get there.
Santa Margarita wasn’t up to the task in the CIF Southern Section championships on February 20 in that 23-point beating, but for much of the season, the Eagles have been a formidable foe even against some of the Golden State’s best programs. At this point in the season, all you can hope for is a second chance, and that’s exactly what the Eagles will get when they visit Chatsworth Saturday night looking for redemption.
At 28-5, they’ll have to take down a Sierra Canyon squad that has only lost once in the 2025-26 season en route to a 27-1 record so far. It’s a tall order, and the Eagles will have to be at their best against a Trailblazers’ squad that is not only eyeing a state championship, but also setting its sights on a possible national championship.
The game is set for a 10 p.m. EST (7 p.m. PST local) tip.
