As the new league year approaches, NFL teams must find ways to get cap compliant for the offseason.
That means teams will cut players purely to create cap relief, adding more free agents to the open market. In some cases, these are smaller moves, but a few teams are letting big names go—moves that could have a major impact on the offseason.
These cap casualties are also notable because they don’t count toward the NFL’s compensatory pick formula, which is appealing for many organizations. It also gives some players unexpected fresh starts with new clubs.
