While the expectation is the rebuilding Miami Dolphins will hold on to wide receiver Jaylen Waddle and running back De’Von Achane, one NFL insider is leaving the door at least slightly ajar for one or both to be traded.

According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, the Dolphins will “listen to trade offers across their roster.”

Breer adds that he could see Achane being extended, but he also believes that nobody is out of the question when it comes to trades, so that would include Waddle, also.

“The Dolphins are going to listen to trade offers across their roster, as we’ve said,” Breer reported. “I do think there are a few guys, like De’Von Achane, that could end up getting extensions this offseason. But I don’t really see anyone who’s totally off limits for a team that’s going to be focused on reworking its roster through the draft, as it takes on the cap fallout of Tagovailoa’s impending departure.”

We could see the Dolphins going either way with Achane and Waddle.

Sure, the Dolphins do need draft capital as they rebuild and both players would garner strong returns.

But Miami also needs some semblance of talent, especially on the offensive side of the ball where they could have a young starter moving forward, whether that be Quinn Ewers or a 2026 or 2027 draft pick.

If Waddle and Achane are can be had, the Pittsburgh Steelers, Minnesota Vikings, Seattle Seahawks and Las Vegas Raiders could have interest.

The Steelers have needed a significant addition at wide receiver for a few years now and Waddle would check that box in a big way. We also wouldn’t rule out Pittsburgh inquiring about Achane because he would be an upgrade over the Steelers’ current starter, Jaylen Warren.

The Raiders have a massive need at receiver with a room that is led by unproven players like 2025 draft picks, Dont’e Thornton and Jack Bech, and veteran Tre Tucker. Not exactly an ideal situation for Fernando Mendoza to step into.

As for the Seahawks and Vikings, both have a need at running back.

The Vikings are reportedly set to release Aaron Jones and Jordan Mason is not a good enough solution to replace him.

Meanwhile, the Seahawks are in danger of losing Kenneth Walker, who is expected to garner a ton of interest in free agency. And, it would not shock us to see Seattle make a play for Waddle given Cooper Kupp’s age and Rashid Shaheed’s pending free-agent status.

While we still expect Achane and Waddle to remain in Miami, Breer’s report gives teams with interest in them at least a shred of hope that one or both could be moved.
