Four teams that should be in the market for a wide receiver addition this offseason are the Pittsburgh Steelers, Denver Broncos, Washington Commanders and San Francisco 49ers.
The Steelers, Broncos and Commanders are all in a similar boat with a need for a No. 2 wide receiver and more depth. As for the 49ers, not only do they need depth, but San Francisco could also use a true No. 1 target.
After the New York Jets decided to trade Jermaine Johnson to the Tennessee Titans, it was reported that the Jets are open to making more moves and chances are those four teams were hoping wide receiver Garrett Wilson might be made available.
However, Essentially Sports’ Tony Pauline reports that it would take a Godfather-style offer to wrangle Wilson away from New York, which is bad news for the Steelers, Commanders, Broncos and 49ers, all of whom likely would be interest in Wilson.
“There is speculation the Jets could trade Garrett Wilson, but I’m told that’s unlikely to happen unless a massive offer the team can’t refuse is placed in front of Gang Green,” Pauline reported.
“The Jets, led by general manager Darren Mougey, extended Wilson’s contract prior to last season, as they did with Gardner. But those close to the situation tell me the Jets don’t want to trade Wilson and ‘they love him,’ which was an exact quote,” Pauline added.
While the Jets could get a nice haul for Wilson, it does make sense to keep him, as he’s still just 25 years old and trading him would leave the wide receiver cupboard extremely bare for a team that needs to see a significant improvement on offense following a campaign in which New York sported one of the worst in the NFL.
When it comes to those four teams we mentioned, the Steelers are best equipped to make the kind of offer it would take to land Wilson, as Pittsburgh is armed with 12 picks in the 2026 NFL draft.
The Broncos have nine selections, while the 49ers have seven and the Commanders have six.
