The fantasy baseball reality at second base isn’t all that different than real life, where there’s some power, some speed, and some versatility, but maybe not a ton of the superstar power we look for at the top of draft rankings.
Unless you’re a super big Jazz Chisholm truther, or maybe a Jackson Holliday believer, second base isn’t a position that will land quite as high in ADP in the preseason as MLB Opening Day approaches. There are still good players to be drafted. But it’s hard to see them commanding as much of your auction dollars as other positions.
That doesn’t mean you can ignore this position, though. Your fantasy lineup still has that 2B spot. You’ve got to get this right to have a chance to win your league.
There’s a former star looking to bounce back to potentially raise your belief in, in the form of the Braves’ Ozzie Albies.
Maybe you like the intrigue of the Twins’ Luke Keaschall, or the upside of the Nationals’ Luis Garcia, or the postseason heroics of the Blue Jays’ Ernie Clement.
There’s some high-ranking prospects here, too, including the Guardians’ Travis Bazzana and the Red Sox duo of Marcelo Mayer and Kristian Campbell.
There are a lot of options at second base, too, and as our self-developed auction values below show, these guys get bunched together in the middle of the rankings.
Unless you have a lot of conviction in one particular guy, it’s a position you can wait on and still end up with a quality player.

1. Consider present and future opportunity
We’re conditioned in fantasy sports to think about what a player is going to do for us right now. In a dynasty league, you have to consider both now and later.
2. Don’t overdo it on young players
Yes, dynasty leagues are set up to last forever. They often don’t, though, and there’s always the owner who drafts only prospects. It’s fine to draft a proven veteran.
3. The best ability is availability
Early in careers, it’s not always easy to know whether a guy will have injury trouble. But the injury prone label is one that is especially painful in dynasty leagues, because you end up with the same player hurt over and over through the years.
Top dynasty 2B to draft in fantasy baseball 2026
Jackson Holliday
We’ve got Holliday ranked much higher than he’s getting drafted in standard leagues, where he’s going in the top-10 among 2B but not the top-five. In a dynasty league, there’s a chance he can be the No. 1 2B sooner rather than later.
Luis Garcia
Garcia has an intriguing mix of power and speed for the Nationals. He flies under the radar relative to their more highly touted prospects, but he’s already proven he can play at the MLB level, and he’ll turn just 26 in May.
Marcelo Mayer
Mayer’s shine has worn off for the Red Sox just a tad after struggling at the end of last season. He’ll be a long-term MLB starter, though, and is worth pursuing.
Michael Arroyo
The Mariners’ prospect won’t be drafted in redraft leagues. He’s got impressive barrel abilities and is easily a top-50 fantasy prospect thanks to his bat.
