For the second consecutive Saturday night, the No. 1 AZ Compass Prep National [Chandler, AZ] Dragons were pushed to the limit, eventually outlasting the No. 8 Wasatch Academy [Mt. Pleasant, UT] Tigers in a 58-55 gut check.
That comes one week after the Dragons got by the No. 22 Oak Cliff Faith Family Academy [Dallas, TX] Eagles, 64-63, on a last-second free throw.
But those close calls are also quality wins, and they show that these Dragons have got the mettle to win in pressure situations. That could come in handy in the weeks to come when AZ Compass Prep is likely to play for a national title in the postseason.
It’s also good enough to keep the Dragons in the top spot here in the rankings – one spot ahead of our new No. 2 Dynamic Prep. The Texans replace last week’s No. 2 Link Academy [Branson, MO] Lions who fall to No. 10 this week after losing to a stout but unranked Dream City Christian National [Glendale, AZ] Eagles’ team last week.
