The Philadelphia Phillies look likely to count on Justin Crawford in a big way in 2026.

The young phenom can start in centerfield for the Phillies, and he can add both pop and speed to their batting order.

Crawford has been well known for years now, a highly regarded prospect who has worked his way up the ladder to earn this opportunity.

For many baseball fans, though, there’s another reason Crawford is highly touted: He’s got a famous dad.

Who is Justin Crawford’s dad?

Justin Crawford’s dad is Carl Crawford, the long-time MLB star.

Carl broke into the major leagues when Tampa Bay still called itself the Devil Rays. He went on to make four All-Star teams, win a Gold Glove and a Silver Slugger, and even earn All-Star MVP honors.

Carl finished his career with 1,931 hits, including 309 doubles, 123 triples and 136 home runs. He stole 480 bases and batted .290 in a career that also included the Dodgers and Red Sox.

Four times, Carl Crawford led the league in triples. He also led the league in steals four times.

He’s certainly passed on a lot of those impressive traits to his son, Justin.

Justin has a long big league career in front of him, and he’s following in some strong familial footsteps.

The Phillies are sure hoping he can put together a career that’s even a little bit like his dad’s, because Carl Crawford was a special player.
