  • Where to watch Mexico vs. Honduras live stream, TV channel, start time for Gold Cup match

The stage is set for a sizzling semifinal showdown on Wednesday night as Mexico squares off with Honduras at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara.

Fresh off a group-topping run in Group A, the defending champions are eyeing yet another trip to the continental final. Javier Aguirre’s men kicked off their title defense with a gritty 3-2 victory over the Dominican Republic, followed by a comfortable 2-0 win against Suriname, and wrapped up the group stage with a scoreless draw versus Costa Rica.

A 3-1 quarterfinal triumph over Saudi Arabia now has El Tri knocking on the door of their fourth straight Gold Cup final

Honduras, though entering as clear underdogs, won’t be backing down without a fight. In recent clashes with Mexico across the Nations League, both nations have split the spoils with two home wins each.

Reinaldo Rueda’s squad looked down and out after a 6-0 hammering at the hands of Canada, but they’ve turned the tide since—bagging a 2-0 win over El Salvador and edging past Curaçao 2-1 to punch their ticket to the semis.

Here’s everything you need to know about Mexico vs. Honduras, including TV channel and streaming options for their Gold Cup clash.

Mexico vs. Honduras lineups, team news

After sitting out the quarterfinal due to suspension, Mexico’s in-form center-back César Montes is cleared for takeoff once again—and he’ll be eyeing a fourth goal to add to his already impressive Gold Cup haul.

The news isn’t all sunshine for El Tri, though. Midfield maestro Luis Chávez suffered a devastating ACL tear right before the knockout rounds and has been sidelined for the rest of the tournament. With Hirving Lozano and Henry Martín also out of commission, the squad’s injury list is starting to pile up.

Montes’ return allows Edson Álvarez to push up into his preferred midfield role, where he’s expected to partner Marcel Ruiz and Erik Lira in the heart of the park. Up front, Fulham’s Raul Jiménez will once again carry the torch in attack, leading the line as Mexico look to march into another final.

Mexico predicted XI (4-3-3, right to left): Malagon (GK) — Sanchez, Montes, Vasquez, Gallardo — Lira, Alvarez, Ruiz — Alvarado, Jimenez, Vega.

Injured: Luis Chávez, Hirving Lozano, Henry Martín.
Suspended: None.

Since Honduras was handed a six-goal drubbing in their tournament opener, coach Reinaldo Rueda has leaned on Jorge Benguché over longtime skipper Anthony Lozano to lead the line up top.

Lozano, who plies his trade with Santos Laguna in Liga MX, will be chomping at the bit to reclaim his starting role—especially against a familiar foe like Mexico. A chance to silence the doubters and hit the scoresheet could be just the spark he needs.

Meanwhile, Celtic winger Luis Palma has been something of a fringe figure in the tournament, mostly coming off the bench. Still, he’s no stranger to making headlines against El Tri, having bagged a brace in Honduras’ Nations League triumph over Mexico last November.

Honduras predicted XI (4-2-3-1 right to left): Menjivar (GK) — Crisanto, Maldonado, Martinez, Rosales — Arriaga, Flores — Rodriguez, Alvarez, Quioto — Benguche.

Injured: None.
Suspended: None.
