The pressure to win Olympic gold is off Jordan Stolz, but he undoubtedly is putting pressure on himself to keep up his winning ways in the 1500-meter finals on Thursday.

Stolz won gold in the 500-meter and 1000-meter in Milan, fulfilling expectations and emerging as one of the most successful Americans at the winter games. Two more opportunities for gold await.

Stolz enters Thursday’s competition as the odds-on favorite. His toughest competition could be Dutch star Kjeld Nuis, who holds the 1500-meter world record and won gold in both 2018 and 2022. Also threatening is China’s Zhongyan Ning, who won 1500-meter gold at the 2025 Asian Winter Games.

Stolz has the chance to become the first American man to win 1500-meter Olympic gold since Derek Parra in 2022.

The Sporting News is tracking live updates and results from Jordan Stolz’s attempt to win gold in the 1500-meter speed skating finals on Thursday. Follow along as Stolz takes to the track.
