Shohei Ohtani is on his way to another incredible season, as the Los Angeles Dodgers superstar reached the 30-home run mark for a fifth consecutive season. Ohtani crushed a fourth-inning longball in a 6-1 win for the Dodgers over the Chicago White Sox.
What made this one a little more interesting than some of the others was that Ohtani fouled a ball off the knee of home plate umpire Alan Porter. The ball somehow hit the knee of Porter before Ohtani delivered the homer.
That was the lone hit of the game for the designated hitter, as he struck out twice. The 30-year-old has now homered in five of his last eight games overall after going seven straight without after hitting two on June 14 vs. the San Francisco Giants.

Ohtani is coming off a season in which he hit a career-high 54 homers while driving in 130. His previous highs were 46 homers and 100 RBI, numbers he should surpass once again.
Along with so many other firsts, Ohtani is now the first player in MLB history with five straight seasons of at least 30 home runs, 10 stolen bases and five triples. No other player has done it more than three consecutive seasons.
