Luisangel Acuna isn’t a switch-hitter.
Tell that to Chicago White Sox GM Chris Getz.
Getz traded for Acuna from the New York Mets this offseason in the Luis Robert Jr. deal, and it’s an exciting addition.
But here’s the thing: Acuna only bats right-handed.

Getz has called him a switch-hitter multiple times:
Great job by many of you flagging this.
Here are FOUR different times this offseason where #WhiteSox GM Chris Getz has referred to Luisangel Acuña as a switch hitter.
Acuña is, in fact, NOT a switch hitter.
Not great. Four times isn’t a misspeak. pic.twitter.com/yYYsHBH49w

One commenter, trying to be merciful, suggested that maybe Acuna is thinking about becoming a switch-hitter.
There’s no indication from his time in the Venezuelan Winter League that that’s happening, though. It doesn’t seem likely.

Acuna did have one awesome headline out of Venezuela: He had a game with four home runs. That came after he didn’t hit any homers last season for the Mets.
The White Sox may end up playing Acuna in centerfield, where he hasn’t played before. So maybe it’s just a season of new things for the new guy.
