The Phoenix Suns suffered a 109-103 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday. It was a cagey affair, as Dillon Brooks led the way for the Suns with a 28-point performance. On the other end, the 76ers relied on their two superstars, Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, who combined for 62 points.

Embiid was dominant across the board with his 33 points, and he made a living from the charity stripe, as he was 11-for-13 from the line. This caught Brooks’ ire, who took it upon himself to guard Embiid late in the game, but it was too little, too late.

Brooks is unhappy with Embiid’s ‘flopping’

Despite his injuries, Embiid has maintained his status as one of the most unstoppable offensive players in the league. He is a physical behemoth who can dominate every game with his post presence and mid-range game. This has led to his matchups fouling him to prevent him from scoring.

Unfortunately for most of his opponents, Embiid is a reliable free-throw shooter. That has led some fans and even players to resent how Embiid plays. On Saturday, it was Brooks who made veiled shots against the former MVP.

Brooks was unhappy with how it turned out, especially since the Suns lost. Devin Booker returned from an ankle sprain and had a 21-point night, but it wasn’t enough to help them win against the 76ers’ overwhelming offense.

“Maybe start that earlier. I can guard the flooping and all that. 14 times. That’s a lot, especially for stuff that are not even shooting fouls. It’s a great group of refs that were reffing the game for Philly tonight,” Brooks said about Embiid’s game and how it was officiated.

The Suns are having a fantastic season, as they have beaten plenty of expectations. They have lost two consecutive games, which is not a good look. However, they can bounce back in the long run, especially with Booker’s return.

They must get over this loss, but it can be tough after Brooks’ comments. In the long run, this should not be the biggest loss on their record, but it could motivate them to be much better on defense.
