Seattle Seahawks fans noticed something interesting in a new Instagram post by wide receiver Cooper Kupp.
There was a picture of Kupp throwing a pass during practice. He’s on the run to his right and letting the football fly.
Could that be a hint of a Super Bowl trick play?

Obviously, a trick play requires the element of surprise to work well. By the same token, the Patriots probably aren’t spending much extra time prepping for a Kupp pass just based on an Instagram post.
It’d certainly be fun if Kupp indeed did attempt a throw looking a lot like that one in the picture.
He has thrown in a Super Bowl before, back when the Rams won with Matthew Stafford at QB. Kupp threw that pass incomplete in a game he ended up winning Super Bowl MVP.

Kupp is actually also 0-for-5 passing in the regular season in his career, so none of these have ever worked.
This season, Kupp threw one pass for the Seahawks, and it was intercepted.
So, um, maybe that’s just Kupp making a fun post on social media and not actually a sign of things to come. Because there isn’t good Kupp precedent for this.
