Fight week tension around Teofimo Lopez and Shakur Stevenson didn’t stay inside the boxing ropes.

Instead, some of the loudest fireworks came from Shannon Briggs.

The former heavyweight champ, who still carries himself like he’s about to headline Madison Square Garden at any second, found himself in a heated back-and-forth with a business associate tied to Houston mogul J. Prince during media rounds captured by MRECK TV on David “Flat” Sparks’ podcast, Let The Sparkz Fly.

What started as casual chatter quickly turned confrontational.

Briggs made it clear he wasn’t in the mood for slick talk.

“If you ever come out your face, I’ll [mess] you up. Just know that,” Briggs said during the exchange. “Don’t play with me.”

The other man tried to keep things light, but Briggs didn’t budge, warning him repeatedly to “watch your mouth.” At one point, the tension escalated enough that people nearby stepped in, urging both sides to chill before it spilled over.

Moments later, the tone shifted as Briggs slipped back into promo mode like nothing had happened.

“I’m here with the champ,” someone said off-camera, prompting the familiar response.

“Let’s go, champ,” Briggs replied.

Asked about the Lopez–Stevenson matchup, Briggs broke down the fight more technically than theatrically.

“I don’t think they both big punchers, but their skill set is crazy,” he said. “It’s gonna be a real technical fight. I’m going with a draw.”

That prediction stood out considering how rarely big fights end that way.

Briggs also showed love to fighters lower on the card, predicting quick finishes. “First round knockouts,” he said confidently, before laughing that he just wanted entertaining scraps either way.

Beyond boxing, Briggs said he’s been focused on business, including real estate projects and helping place homeless families into apartments in Los Angeles. He also teased international ventures, mentioning travel between Turkey and Dubai.

And yes, he’s still thinking about lacing up the gloves again.

“I’m fighting Rampage Jackson,” Briggs said. “Hopefully we get a contract soon. First round.”

The whole scene felt like classic Briggs — part street energy, part showmanship, part sales pitch. The Lopez–Stevenson card already had stakes. Now it had extra spice. For fans tracking every angle — from weigh-ins to side drama and even betting chatter on sites like Zamsino — the week delivered more than just boxing. With Briggs around, quiet was never an option.
