Teofimo Lopez vs. Shakur Stevenson is on January 31 from inside Madison Square Garden. The main card starts at 6 p.m. ET and the main event should begin around 10:30 p.m. ET, depending on how long the undercard fights last.

Lopez (22-1) dethroned Vasiliy Lomachenko in 2020 to become the unified lightweight champion. After George Kambosos Jr. took his gold, he moved to 140 and has won six straight, beating Josh Taylor for the WBO and Ring belts.

“The Takeover” has headlined The Theater connected to MSG. Now headlining the main theater, Lopez looks to prove he should be the face of boxing.

“I’m gonna show everyone his defense is not as immaculate as they say it is,” Lopez told DAZN via BoxingScene. “My job is to show the world the flaws that they can’t see.

“My job is to show the world that can’t nobody beat me. And I’m going to make it look pretty. And it’s going to be much prettier when I see him laid out flat.”

Stevenson (24-0) is a multi-division champion. He beat Edwin De Los Santos for the WBC lightweight title and defended it three times. The Olympic silver medalist has primarily headlined shows in New Jersey.

Facing someone considered his equal, Stevenson looks to expose Lopez on fight night.

“He’s a very good fighter, but I do see a lot of weaknesses,” Stevenson told DAZN via Bad Left Hook. “He’s not going to correct them overnight, he’s going to be the same Teo that we done seen a thousand times before.

“He’s going to come out there trying to perform highly, and I’m going to take advantage of it. But as far as the weaknesses, I’m going to keep them to myself.”
