Turns out, Joe Flacco is elite, after all.
The Baltimore Ravens‘ legendary quarterback, one of the best to ever pass the ball in that violet color, won a Super Bowl ring with the Ravens while throwing one of the best deep passes in the NFL.
Flacco, though, never made a Pro Bowl with Baltimore.
It wasn’t necessarily egregious. He played in quite the era for quarterbacks, especially in the AFC with the likes of Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Philip Rivers and Ben Roethlisberger.
But it was a fact, and it was one that at this point in his career seemed unlikely to change.

On Friday, though, Flacco was named as a replacement to the AFC Pro Bowl roster.
Flacco, 40, is a replacement for the game. He’ll join Browns rookie Shedeur Sanders, who was already chosen as a replacement AFC QB, too.
This season, Flacco started 10 games between the Browns and the Bengals. His teams went 2-8 in those games. Flacco threw 15 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
Clearly, it’s a quirk in the system. With a bunch of other QBs unavailable, there’s only so much the NFL can do.

So first, it got the popular and polarizing Sanders. And now it snagged Flacco, a bit of a career-achievement honor to get him to a Pro Bowl after all.
And yeah, Flacco and Sanders both started the season with the Browns. Quite the comedy, really.
Ravens fans can feel good for Flacco, at least. He gets one last bit of recognition as his career winds down.
