After suffering a blowout at the hands of the Charlotte Hornets Monday night, the Philadelphia 76ers didn’t have much time to rest before suiting up again Tuesday against the Milwaukee Bucks.
However, despite playing on the second night of a back-to-back, the 76ers looked much more energetic than they did Monday.
Nick Nurse’s team got off to a hot start, scoring 42 points in the opening frame and eventually cruised to a 17-point victory, 139-122. The win for Philadelphia clinched the season series between the two sides, with the 76ers now holding a 3-0 advantage against the Bucks this year.
Paul George was the star of the show, finishing with a game-high 32 points on 9-for-15 shooting from downtown to go along with five rebounds and five assists. Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey also score 20 or more, the second time this season that the trio has reached that mark.
Additionally, second-year guard Jared McCain offered a spark off the bench, scoring 17 points on 5-for-6 shooting from three-point range.
Following the game, George spoke about his success against Milwaukee this season: “I know Doc, I know his coverages, I know his play calling, I know what he’s looking at, what he’s looking for, how he’s going to guard me.”
Now, at 25-21, the 76ers sit alone at sixth place in the Eastern Conference, trailing the Cleveland Cavaliers by two games for fifth.
Philadelphia is set to have an easy matchup their next time out, facing the Sacramento Kings Thursday. The Kings currently hold the second-worst record in the Western Conference.
