The Cleveland Browns face a tall task on Sunday when they take on the division rival Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.
The two teams couldn’t be more opposite from each other. The Ravens are trending up, with MVP-caliber quarterback Lamar Jackson back and healthy. Cleveland, on the other hand, is floundering, with rookie Dillon Gabriel facing calls for his benching on a weekly basis.
But some analysts believe the Browns aren’t doing everything they can to put the former Oregon Duck in a position to succeed, including one former NFL defensive back.
Jason McCourty reveals how the Browns can help Dillon Gabriel
In an appearance on 92.3 the Fan in Cleveland, former Browns defensive back Jason McCourty revealed to Ken Carman and Anthony Lima how Cleveland can help out their rookie quarterback more.
“We saw them in a lot of tight formations, a lot of bunch routes, a lot of move the pocket, whether it was a boot or whether him just taking a snap and getting outside of the tackle box,” McCourty said.
“He’s comfortable throwing the ball on the move, so I think those are some of the things that now with Tommy Rees calling the plays that you’re going to see different ways to try to get him going.”
The Browns are going to have to do whatever they can to get Gabriel feeling himself on Sunday.
Baltimore’s defense has struggled at times this season, and if Cleveland has any chance of pulling off the upset, their chances rest on the arm of its embattled rookie quarterback.
