Denny Hamlin wasn’t the only one who was left in shock after he lost his bid to become a NASCAR Cup Series Champion on Sunday. His family was also gobsmacked and is still processing the loss.
After the race, Hamlin’s two daughters were seen crying on pit road and his longtime partner, Jordan Fish, opened up about the heartbreak that followed Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series finale.
In a post shared to Instagram on Monday, Fish, who’s the mother of Hamlin’s three children – Taylor, 12, Molly, 7, and baby Jameson, 4 months, said she feels “numb” after watching his NASCAR title dream slip away.
Jordan Fish says she feels ‘numb’ watching Hamlin’s NASCAR title hopes fade
“My heart and body physically ache for Denny and his entire team. Watching him put in countless hours, years and two decades worth of hard work and dedication for a sport he loves so incredibly much, just to fall short once again, is absolutely heart wrenching,” Fish captioned the post, alongside a teary-eyed photo of herself consoling him after the loss.
“This sport can really make you feel on top of the world one second, and in the bottom of the trenches in the other. I’m tired, I’m sad, I feel defeated. I wish the outcome was different,” the NASCAR WAG added.
Fish says she’s confident that Hamlin left everything he had on the line over the weekend, and she’s “proud” of his performance, despite the loss. However, she feels “sad for his dad, Dennis Hamlin, who probably won’t get to witness his son accomplish his dream,” as he’s terminally ill.

Hamlin was vying to win his first career title at Phoenix Raceway, but watched the dream slip away when a late caution sent the championship-deciding finale into overtime. Before the caution, Hamlin seemingly had the race locked up and was ready to finally toss the label of one of the best drivers to never secure a championship win.
He addressed the disappointment after the race, telling reporters, “I really don’t have much for emotion right now. Just numb about it ’cause just in shock,” per “ESPN.”
“We were 40 seconds away from a championship. This sport can drive you absolutely crazy because sometimes speed, talent, none of that matters,” he added.
Kyle Larson won the 2025 Nascar Cup Series championship.
Hamlin finished the race in sixth-place.
