Now that the MLB season is officially over, free agency is rapidly approaching, and the hot stove season is less than a week away.
The Philadelphia Phillies have several key decisions to make regarding some of their top players. That includes starter Ranger Suarez and DH Kyle Schwarber. According to Jon Heyman, the team’s top priority is re-signing Kyle Schwarber, which means Ranger Suarez’s retention might be up in the air.
Who will Ranger Suarez sign with?
One of the Phillies’ top starters, Ranger Suarez, is set to hit free agency. He is deemed one of the top starters on the market, and it will be interesting to follow his sweepstakes.
In a recent predictions piece by Bleacher Report, Suarez is predicted to sign with the Phillies’ bitter rival, the New York Mets.
“Prediction: Suárez signs a six-year deal with the Mets.”
The Mets are certainly looking to update their starting rotation this offseason, and Suarez could be one of the top names on their wishlist. And owner Steve Cohen won’t hesitate to open up the checkbook to do whatever it takes to get back to the MLB postseason in 2026.
Suarez made 26 starts this season and posted a 3.20 ERA with 151 strikeouts. Suarez’s consistency as a starter over the last four seasons should earn him a pretty lucrative contract, but it’s just a matter of what the terms will be. Will MLB teams want to commit several years to the 30-year-old Suarez?
