The Pittsburgh Steelers are reportedly set to work out a veteran wide receiver.

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Steelers will host wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling for a workout on Monday.

“The Steelers are scheduled to workout veteran WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling on Monday,” Schultz reported.

Of course, Valdes-Scantling has a connection with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who was MVS’ teammate in Green Bay.

Valdes-Scantling had his best season as a pro with Rodgers throwing him the ball in 2020, when the veteran tallied a career-high 690 yards and six touchdowns that season.

Unfortunately, MVS hasn’t been able to recreate that success in the years that have followed, as he hasn’t tallied more than 411 yards in a season since.

Valdes-Scantling has had stints with the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, New Orleans Saints and was most recently with the San Francisco 49ers earlier this season. He tallied just four catches for 40 yards in five games.

He initially signed with the Seattle Seahawks in free agency during the offseason, but he failed to make the 53-man roster out of training camp.

The Steelers are in search of more wide receiver help. Pittsburgh doesn’t have an adequate No. 2 and could use more depth, also.

MVS won’t check the former box, but he could help with the latter while adding a wideout who can stretch the field.
