Manchester United have identified their issues in midfield and therefore they made a strong push to sign Brighton’s Carlos Baleba.
Eventually they failed to meet Brighton’s lofty asking price and didn’t get enough time to secure an alternative in midfield.
Hence Ruben Amorim has been forced to field Casemiro alongside Bruno Fernandes in the midfield pivot.
The 33-year-old Brazilian isn’t as agile as he once used to be and with incessant travels with the national team, his performances for the Red Devils have taken a hit.
Therefore, United have understood that they need someone who can control the tempo in the middle of the park and also bring a lot of energy and passing range whilst playing in the pivot.
According to reports via CaughtOffside, Manchester United are keeping close tabs on Bayern Munich star Aleksandar Pavlovic as they believe he could be the ideal Casemiro alternative.

While a January move for the Germany international is highly unlikely, United may eventually push for the 21-year-old next summer.
Any transfer offer around £70m ($93m) for Pavlovic next summer would put Bayern Munich in a unique spot despite their hopes of holding on to their academy star.
Why are Man United chasing Bayern Munich’s Pavlovic?
Pavlovic established himself at Bayern Munich’s academy and then featured for the age group teams before breaking into the senior team in 2023.

He has gradually developed into a crucial first team under Kompany albeit exchanging places with Goretzka in midfield.
His heroics for Bayern in the last few years have also rewarded him with national team callup for Germany.
Overall, he brings physicality, energy and composure to the Bayern Munich midfield and has rightfully earned comparisons with former Germany and Bayern Munich star Toni Kroos.
United are keeping close tabs on him because he is yet to cement his starting spot in midfield in Munich, something he would be offered if he moves to Old Trafford.
Overall, if the move materializes, United will have a worldclass midfielder with immense potential for the next decade at least.
