Kris Murray’s name is a bit less familiar to NBA fans. 

But those tuning in to watch the Portland Trail Blazers feel like they’re seeing something kind of familiar, too.

And they are: He’s one of two K. Murrays in the NBA.

Kris has a talented brother, also on the West Coast.

Who is Kris Murray?

Kris Murray is a 25-year old forward for the Portland Trail Blazers.

He’s a 6-foot-8 left-handed player who played his college basketball at Iowa.

Kris was the No. 23 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft by Portland.

Kris Murray’s brother

Kris Murray is the twin brother of Keegan Murray.

Keegan was the No. 4 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings, having also played at Iowa.

The Murray boys’ father is Kenyon Murray, who was a four-year starter at the University of Iowa.

What to know about Kris Murray

A couple quick hitters on Kris Murray:

  • Unlike his brother, he’s lefty
  • He played with his brother at Prairie High School in Iowa, DME Academy in Daytona Beach and then for the Hawkeyes
  • Kris averaged 6.1 points as a rookie and 4.2 points in year two
