It has been a long time coming, but Dallas Cowboys linebacker DeMarvion Overshow is finally back on the practice field at The Star as his return from a devastating knee injury is getting closer.

Having already dealt with an ACL injury back in 2023, to then have three ligaments in his right knee, which included his ACL, be shredded last season, that is a lot to deal with mentally.

Especially when Overshown was just starting to hit his stride and become one of Dallas’ best defensive players for Mike Zimmer.

But how did he deal with the mental aspect of once again having to sit out for a prolonged period and watch as his teammates got to do their thing?

“It’s a blessing just to be able to get up off that field after what happened,” Overshown said. “I kind of knew at that moment what was going on with my knee, so I didn’t look back. I always knew this football is just a platform for me to spread God’s grace.

“He’s given me grace. He’s given me mercy. So, who am I not to wake up every day with a smile on my face and enjoy the joys that he has blessed me with over this 317 days that I’ve been injured.”

Overshown ready to go

As Overshown continued, he detailed the things that have happened to him over the past year, and it is easy to see why he has the perspective he has.

Yes, football is a big part of his life, but there’s more to it than that.

“I’ve been blessed with a kid, been blessed to be engaged, but just been blessed to be around people that genuinely care for me and love me,” Overshown added. “I didn’t lose any sleep. I woke up every day smiling.

“I came here every day smiling, and I knew once I got my opportunity again, it was time to go, and it’s that time. It’s time to go.”

That “time to go” will be around Week 11 against the Las Vegas Raiders, so we still have a few weeks to navigate before we see “Agent 0” back playing with real NFL bullets flying.

It has been a long journey, but DeMarvion is now so close to getting back and doing the thing he loves the most, and we bet that the Cowboys’ locker room will be equally as happy to see No. 0 running around after such a tough battle with injury.
