The Miami Dolphins continued their downward spiral on Sunday, losing to the Cleveland Browns, 31-6.

The game had some rough weather, but if anything that should have made it low-scoring, not produce the score it did.

Now, after three straight losses, including a blowout to another 1-5 team, the Dolphins are 1-6 and there’s questions around just about everyone in Miami.

Mike McDaniel’s job is safe, for now

NFL Network’s insider Ian Rapoport joined “Good Morning Football” on Monday morning to discuss the Dolphins situation.

“Mike McDaniel said it, they really need to figure out who they are and really find out what they are made of,” Rapoport said. “The problem is the record is rough, and the spotlight is very firmly on the Miami Dolphins right now.”

Not only have the Dolphins continued to lose, but after last week’s loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa called out teammates for not showing up or doing so late to team activities.

That only heightened the pressure on the Dolphins and brought more eyes to the team, just for them to lay an egg on Sunday against the Browns.

So, where does that leave McDaniel’s job security?

“My understanding early on in the season, for the Dolphins and for Mike McDaniel is owner Steven Ross likes him and believes in him, has extended him in the past and wants to go forward with Mike McDaniel,” Rapoport said. “The only thing that would change it is if, one, fans suddenly stop showing up to the stadium, which could happen for a really bad team in a lost season, or two, if the players stopped playing for him.

“I’m not saying yesterday’s result was that, but it certainly didn’t go in a great direction. We don’t know right now what is going to happen for the Miami Dolphins, but I believe it’s fair to say that questions about the future of Mike McDaniel and Tua, by the way, and everything that is in the Dolphins’ orbit – it is all fair now with that performance that they gave on Sunday.”

Despite McDaniel’s job security being pretty strong, at least from inside the organization, at the beginning of the season, it feels like the time is running out.

The Dolphins schedule doesn’t get any easier with the Atlanta Falcons, Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills and Washington Commanders as their next four games.

Maybe higher competition will heighten the Dolphins’ play on the field, or maybe it will be the end of some tenures in Miami.
