Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers bring their late-game knack north, as they battle the Lions on “Monday Night Football.”
Tampa Bay (5-1) sits in sole possession of first place in the NFC South and is tied for the best record in the NFL with the Colts. Four of their five wins have come via a game-winning score in the final minute of regulation.
Last week’s 11-point win over the 49ers didn’t require any last-minute heroics, but it was nonetheless inspiring. Mayfield received “MVP” chants for his two-touchdown performance and, most memorably, a wild 15-yard scamper to convert a third-and-14.
Meanwhile, Detroit (4-2) is a bona fide Super Bowl contender, though the high-flying Lions saw their offense sputter in last week’s 30-17 loss to the Chiefs. That snapped a four-game stretch in which they averaged over 40 points per game.
Among the offensive standouts in the early season is wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown, who is tied for the league lead with six receiving touchdowns.
