  • Colorado Buffaloes football Shedeur Sanders cost himself Browns QB1 vote of confidence with 101 MPH speeding incident

On Tuesday morning, the “Summer of Shedeur Sanders” might have suffered a massive blow. In the early morning hours, local police cited Shedeur for exceeding the speed limit by 40 mph, according to police records.

The Cleveland Browns’ rookie quarterback has been a model citizen since turning pro, with coach Kevin Stefanski praising his work behind the scenes and beat writers impressed with his performance on the field during mini-camp.

But could this recent slip-up affect his standing within the club?

One former prominent Shedeur defender suggested this incident is creating a startling pattern.

On his show “The Herd,” FOX Sports analyst Colin Cowherd ripped Shedeur for his mistake and suggested that he was done giving the 23-year-old the benefit of the doubt.

“Mike Tomlin often says two is a trend—I’m not sure if I need two times when you’re a young quarterback,” Cowherd said. “I now have two times in the last couple of months that have really turned me off from Shedeur Sanders, whom I have championed. That cringe, awful, ‘legendary’ draft room—I had more than one GM say ‘total turn-off.’ It’s not the end of the world, but it’s a bad look. Now this. All you fanboys—Manziel, Baker, Watson—defend it to the hilltops on your Reddit account. Don’t minimize, don’t pander.”

Shedeur’s lack of self-awareness is what could jeopardize any chance he has of starting in the NFL.

From burying teammates at Colorado to bombing pre-draft interviews to childish decisions like this, at what point do front offices say, “He just doesn’t get it”?

Perhaps some of this would be easier to stomach if he were a better talent, but he’s fourth on the depth chart for a reason.

Hopefully, Shedeur uses this as the wake-up call he desperately needs, but history suggests this is just the latest in a string of mind-numbing decisions.
