Arch Manning has been at the center of the college football world, and on Saturday, he faces his first SEC test of the 2025 season. The redshirt sophomore will lead No. 9 Texas into the Swamp to take on the Florida Gators.
Manning is coming off a stellar performance against Sam Houston State, completing 18 of 21 passes for 309 yards and three touchdowns, while adding two more on the ground. On the season, he has completed 61.3% of his passes for 888 yards, nine touchdowns, and three interceptions.
Florida enters the matchup at 1-3 and struggling, but remains a challenging opponent for Manning and the Longhorns. The Gators, who began the year ranked No. 15 in the AP Poll, have fallen to top-ranked teams No. 3 LSU and No. 4 Miami, with quarterback D.J. Lagway and the offense combining for just 17 points in those contests.
The Gators defense is athletic, allowing 173.0 passing yards per game and 16.0 points per game, which is fifth in the SEC. Florida has already caused veteran quarterbacks in Garrett Nussmeier and Carson Beck to struggle. All this goes to show that Florida, though the record might show otherwise, is one of the tougher tests that Manning has faced in his college career.
