  • Where to watch Seattle Sounders vs. Atletico Madrid live stream, TV channel, start time for FIFA Club World Cup match

Seattle Sounders are gearing up for a showdown with Spanish heavyweights Atletico Madrid in a sizzling group-stage clash at Lumen Field in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

The Sounders have hit a rough patch lately, stumbling in recent outings and struggling to find the back of the net. Their missed chances cost them dearly in the narrow loss to Botafogo—a game they could’ve easily knotted up if they’d brought their shooting boots.

With the stakes raised and the lights brighter, the MLS outfit must roll up their sleeves and deliver something sharper if they’re to stand toe-to-toe with Simeone’s crew.

On the flip side, Atletico Madrid are licking their wounds after getting steamrolled by PSG in their tournament opener. Still, with Seattle’s recent slump, the door is wide open for the LaLiga side to bounce back. Diego Simeone will be barking instructions from the sidelines.

The Sporting News looks at the key details ahead of this game, including how to watch the match, kickoff times and the latest lineup news.

Seattle Sounders vs. Atletico Madrid start time

Seattle Sounders vs. Atletico Madrid predicted lineups, team news

Seattle Sounders are dealing with a blow at the back, as Stuart Hawkins remains on the shelf for the next six to eight weeks due to a thigh injury.

On a brighter note, Kim Kee-hee shook off a calf issue to clock in 45 minutes against Botafogo, and the veteran defender is now in the mix to retain his spot in the starting lineup.

Up front, Jordan Morris made his way back into the matchday squad but stayed wrapped in his warmup gear as an unused sub after shaking off a hamstring knock.

Given the cautious approach, the forward is more likely to make a cameo off the bench than start. That leaves Daniel Musovski to once again lead the line, with Ryan Kent and Jesus Ferreira likely flanking him as the wide threats in what could be a fast-and-furious front three.

Seattle Sounders predicted XI (4-2-3-1, right to left):  Frei (GK) — A. Roldan, Kim, Ragen, Tolo — Vargas, C. Roldan — Vargas, Rusnak, Kent — Musovski.

Injured: Stuart Hawkin.
Suspended: None

Atletico Madrid will be without Clement Lenglet for the upcoming clash, as the Frenchman finds himself in the doghouse following a second yellow for dissent in the dying moments of the loss to PSG. With him sidelined, Jose Gimenez is likely to slot in next to Robin Le Normand at the heart of the defense.

Diego Simeone, never shy about mixing things up, has a decision to make at full-back. He could roll the dice again with Marcos Llorente and Javi Galan, or play it safe by bringing back Nahuel Molina and Reinildo Mandava to tighten things up at the back.

In midfield, it’s a logjam of talent. Conor Gallagher and Koke are knocking on the door, hoping to muscle into the lineup at the expense of Rodrigo De Paul or Pablo Barrios. Up top, Antoine Griezmann looks set to keep his place alongside Julian Alvarez, which could once more relegate Alexander Sorloth to bench duty, waiting in the wings for his number to be called.

Atletico Madrid predicted XI (4-4-2, right to left): Oblak (GK) — Molina, Le Normand, Gimenez, Galan — Simeone, De Paul, Gallagher, Koke — Griezmann, Alvarez.

Injured: Clement Lengle.
Suspended: None
