The Los Angeles Lakers have a two-way spot open.
And so their latest signing is just another player who could compete for it.
The Lakers announced the signing of guard Tevian Jones on Saturday.
Jones is a 6-foot-7 guard coming off a very strong season in the G League.
He was originally undrafted in 2023.
Jones started his college career at Illinois, then finished it at Southern Utah.
In Jones’ final college season, he put up 17.8 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. He knocked down 36.2% of his 3-pointers.
In 2024-25, Jones made all his appearances for the Grand Rapids Gold, which is the G League affiliate of the Denver Nuggets.
In that G League action, Jones put up 15.6 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. His shooting declined just a bit, to 34.6% from deep.
It’s not a given that Jones will stick around with the Lakers beyond training camp. An Exhibit 10 contract incentivizes him to stick with the South Bay Lakers in the G League if he doesn’t earn that remaining two-way contract.
Jones will also get to learn from legends like LeBron James and Luka Doncic, which is never a bad opportunity for a young player.
We’ll see how long Jones is able to stick around in the purple and gold.
