The last thing the Detroit Lions can ever afford to hear is Aidan Hutchinson and injury in the same sentence.
Hutchinson is a crucial part of the Lions’ defense and we’ve already seen what life without him can be like after his season-ending injury in 2024.
So, it was only natural that there was immediate concern about Hutchinson after the 38-30 win over the Baltimore Ravens when he was spotted with a bag of ice on his left knee upon arriving at the podium for the postgame presser.
Thankfully, Hutchinson seems to be fine.
“We’re good. Just a little sore,” Hutchinson said, per Pride of Detroit’s Jeremy Reisman.
Hutchinson missed the remainder of the 2024 campaign after he broke his tibia and fibula in Week 5. He was one of several defenders Detroit was missing by season’s end, and that no doubt aided in the Lions’ early playoff exit.
But Hutchinson looks to be all the way back from that injury.
The Lions edge rusher tallied one sack and seven pressures over the first two games and had his best showing on Monday night against Baltimore with one sack and a massive forced fumble on running back Derrick Henry in the fourth quarter that displayed his incredible motor.
Hutchinson’s clutch play even had Henry crashing out and falling down into the bench on the sideline.
The Lions’ pass-rush came to play overall, with the unit tallying seven sacks in total on quarterback Lamar Jackson, which is incredibly difficult to do.
The only other team to accomplish that feat was the 2021 Pittsburgh Steelers.
Fresh off a huge win, the 2-1 Lions will take on the Cleveland Browns in Week 4.
