Kansas State was expected to be in Big 12 title contention last season but fell short.
The Wildcats finished 9-4 overall and just 5-4 in conference, but they’re expected to improve in 2025. Avery Johnson enters his second full season as the starting quarterback after an underwhelming first year.
Johnson finished with 2,712 passing yards and 25 passing touchdowns on a 58.3 percent completion rate. He added 605 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground. A more consistent season, while limiting turnovers (10 interceptions in 2024), would help the Wildcats majorly.
The defense kept a handful of key players from last year, but it lost Brendan Mott, who led the team in sacks. His absence could be a major hit against the defensive unit.
