The start of the 2025-26 NFL season is right around the corner, but one quarterback competition still remains.
This past week, the Browns tabbed 40-year-old Joe Flacco as their starting QB, while the Colts gave the nod to former Giants first-round pick Daniel Jones. That leaves the Saints as the only team yet to name a starting quarterback for Week 1.
The battle between Spencer Rattler and Tyler Shough — the latter a second-round pick in April’s draft — will extend into Saturday’s preseason game against the Broncos, highlighting the ultimate week of preseason action. To date, both quarterbacks have posted eerily similar stats across two preseason games.
Who will earn the nod for Week 1 on Sept. 7 against the Cardinals, Rattler or Shough? Saturday’s ultimate preseason contest will give head coach Kellen Moore one last opportunity to assess his quarterbacks in a game setting.

How to watch NFL games in Week 3 of the preseason
NFL Network will air six games on national television in the final week of the preseason, beginning with Panthers vs. Steelers on Thursday night.
CBS will also broadcast Titans vs. Vikings in the Friday night slot. Meanwhile, Amazon Prime Video will carry exclusive streaming coverage of Giants vs. Patriots on Thursday.
All other games will be broadcast in the teams’ respective regional markets on local television channels.
