This year’s Little League Classic features one of the breakout stars of the MLB season. Cal Raleigh enters the game vs. the Mets with a league-leading 46 home runs and 100 RBIs as he gets to play in front of this year’s Little League World Series participants.

As the Little League Classic also falls on Players’ Weekend, Raleigh has the opportunity to use custom-designed gear for the game. Raleigh took the opportunity to create catchers gear that both honors his Mariners teammates and the Little League World Series simultaneously.

What is the Little League Classic?

Every year since 2017 during the Little League World Series, Major League Baseball sends two teams to Williamsport, Pennsylvania to play a game in front of the LLWS participants. This year, the Mets are hosting the Mariners in the Little League Classic to close out the series between the two.

Cal Raleigh custom chest protector, explained

Cal Raleigh had a special chest protector made just for the Little League Classic against the Mets. The Mariners catcher got pictures of his teammates as little leaguers and put them together to create a chest protector just for this one game.

Did Cal Raleigh play in the Little League World Series?

Cal Raleigh never got to play in the Little League World Series as a kid, so this will be his first appearance playing baseball in Williamsport.

The Little League World Series Classic is played in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, which is the same site as the Little League World Series. The game itself is played at Journey Bank Ballpark at Historic Bowman Field on the Little League World Series grounds.

Where is Cal Raleigh from?

Raleigh was born in Cullowhee, North Carolina, but he played Little League baseball at Great Smokes Little League in Sylvia, North Carolina.
