The Golden State Warriors’ offseason has been a nightmare, to say the least.
While there are various free agents the Dubs would like to sign, Jonathan Kuminga’s uncertain future with the franchise has prevented them from bolstering their roster.
However, Blue Man Hoop’s believes that a beneficial trade centered around Kuminga could soon occur.
In G.C. Bellchamber’s hypothetical deal, the Warriors would send Kuminga to the Boston Celtics in exchange for an NBA champion forward.
“As the Golden State Warriors look toward constructing their roster for contention, trading restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga, either this off-season or sometime around the next trade deadline, remains a real possibility,” Bellchamber wrote Friday.
“Yet, if the Warriors were to move on from Kuminga, they would likely need some help in the frontcourt, and Sam Hauser of the Boston Celtics, a likely trade candidate, could fill that exact need.”

“Hauser, 27, is likely to be traded as a result of Boston’s efforts to duck the luxury tax next season, and, as a career sharpshooter and frontcourt specialist, could provide a serious boon to Golden State’s rotation were they to move on from Kuminga.”
Although Kuminga possesses a higher upside than Hauser, he isn’t elite in one specific category like Hauser is.
It didn’t take long for Hauser to find his niche in the NBA, as the Virginia product earned minutes with the Celtics early on due to his outstanding long-range production.
Hauser, who shot 43.2% from deep as a rookie, finished this past season with a noteworthy 41.6% three-point shooting percentage.
Swapping Kuminga for Hauser would give the Warriors a wing asset who does the one thing that helps the Stephen Curry-led franchise thrive offensively: feast from beyond the arc.
If the Celtics are open to moving on from Hauser (likely for financial reasons), Golden State should engage in trade talks immediately.
