Not too many people would be happy with straight up being called “fat.”
While it did make for a comedic “Weird Al” Yankovic parody back in 1988, a twist on Michael Jackson’s “Bad,” it has recently dug a further divot in the strained relationship between Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks.
When asked about reasoning for the blockbuster trade that sent Doncic to L.A., Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison cited the star’s weight, diet, work ethic, and conditioning.
Needless to say, the Slovenian was not a fan of the remarks, as a matter of fact, according to Lakers Daily, Doncic was “pissed” that the Mavs front office “basically told the world that he was fat.”
Thankfully, it has also turned into a positive for Doncic, who has lost weight thanks to a gluten-free and low-sugar diet, gotten in shape, and looks better than ever as he prepares to go through his first full season with the purple and yellow.
After the unthinkable trade, Doncic averaged 28.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, and even averaged 30.2 points in the playoffs as the Lakers were eliminated courtesy of Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
