Micah Parsons doesn’t want to talk about it.
Everyone wants to know where he and the Dallas Cowboys stand in contract negotiations after his trade request.
That includes the reporters who cover the Cowboys, of course. They approached Parsons on Wednesday in hopes of a comment or an update.
Parsons delivered a four-word response, shared by The Athletic’s Jon Machota:
“My mouth is closed.”

Given that Parsons has not given any update on his trade request since making it on social media, it’s safe to say that still stands.
He’s entering the final year of his contract in Dallas and wants his extension lined up before he gets back on the field. And given that reports indicate the Cowboys weren’t even negotiating with Parsons recently, it’s hard to know if this one will end up in a good way for Dallas.
The Cowboys open the regular season three weeks from Thursday, against the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles.
Right now, Parsons and Dallas owner Jerry Jones evidently haven’t found a common ground yet.
Parsons is due a record-setting contract, one that will pay him more money than any non-quarterback in NFL history.

Jones has wavered a bit, initially saying that the trade request was all part of negotiations, but then later saying he had no confidence Parsons would be available to start the season.
In a brutal NFC East, the Cowboys can’t afford an early Parsons absence. And with a lot of money already committed to the contention timeline surrounding Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, Dallas needs to try and maximize the next handful of seasons. That plan would almost certainly include Parsons.
But right now, nothing appears to be happening. Parsons’ mouth is closed, and Cowboys fans hold their breath.
