The Denver Nuggets look to be rebuilding their role players after firing head coach Mike Malone last season and promoting interim head coach David Adelman to the full-time position.
Denver has already made some interesting moves this offseason, trading Michael Porter Jr. to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Cam Johnson, trading for the Sacramento Kings’ big man Jonas Valanciunas, and signing sharpshooter Tim Hardaway Jr. The Nuggets also brought back a key piece from their 2023 NBA Championship run in signing Bruce Brown.
The team isn’t done making moves, and on Tuesday, the Nuggets agreed to a contract with former Dallas Mavericks forward Kessler Edwards, according to NBA insider Michael Scotto.
Edwards, a 25-year-old forward, was a second-round draft pick out of Pepperdine by the Brooklyn Nets in 2021. He’s bounced around from multiple teams in the four years he’s been in the league, playing for the Nets, Sacramento Kings, Dallas Mavericks, and now the Denver Nuggets.
The Pepperdine alum is known for playing as a role player in the NBA, starting in 45 of the 178 games he’s appeared in in his career.
His most productive season was in 2024-25 with the Dallas Mavericks, averaging 4.2 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.1 assists, while shooting 49.6% from the field, and 40.7% from beyond the three-point line.
Denver will be adding another young big man to their depth chart. He will likely serve as a role player coming off the bench behind players like Aaron Gordon, Christian Braun, and Peyton Watson.
