The Boston Celtics had a busy Tuesday, trading Georges Niang to the Utah Jazz and signing Chris Boucher. Boucher should be a nice addition for the Celtics, as he’s an NBA champion and has proven to be a decent veteran in the league.

However, some still believe the Celtics might not be done yet, including Ryan Shea of Sports Illustrated. He recently proposed a bizarre trade with the Celtics and Sacramento Kings, a deal that would move on from Jaylen Brown.

Sacramento Kings receive: Jaylen Brown

Boston Celtics receive: DeMar DeRozan, four first-round picks, two second-round picks

“In this proposed deal, the Celtics receive DeRozan and a slew of picks. This gives the Celtics the roster flexibility they are looking for in addition to a veteran, who still has good basketball left in him at 35 years old. He averaged 22.2 points per game with 3.9 rebounds and 4.4 assists, while shooting 47.7 percent from the field. DeRozan also provides a leadership aspect to the young guys, and could be a trade deadline chip if the Celtics plan to go that route,” he wrote.

While getting four first-round picks back would be nice in some sense, it’d be tough to justify.

It isn’t like DeMar DeRozan is anything like Brown at this stage of his career, and the chances of those four first-round picks becoming anything of significance unless the Celtics reroute them in a different trade are also unlikely.

Brown is arguably one of the top 15 players in the NBA, so the Celtics would have to hope one of those draft picks becomes close to that.
