Manchester City are reportedly preparing a new deal for Rodri ahead of the upcoming 2025/26 season.
Rodri, who arrived at the Etihad from Atletico Madrid in 2019, was sidelined for the majority of the previous season after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament tear during a Premier League game against Arsenal last September.
Rodri returned to the pitch in Man City’s second-to-last league match of the 2024/25 campaign and was then included in the squad that made the trip to the United States for the Club World Cup.
The 29-year-old star’s current contract at the Etihad is valid until the summer of 2027.
Now, Man City are set to offer Rodri a new contract that will keep him at the club until June 2029, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
This new deal reportedly includes a massive wage hike that could potentially make the Spaniard the second-best-paid player after Erling Haaland.

Prior to this reported move by Man City, Rodri attracted quite some attention from Real Madrid, who have been heavily linked to make a move for the Ballon d’Or winner this summer.
What’s next for Manchester City and Real Madrid transfer target Rodri?
Romano’s report further suggested that Man City’s decision to offer a new deal to Rodri comes as a gesture from the English club to show their trust in the midfielder and his dedication.
While the decision now rests with Rodri, reports have also suggested that he is focused on recovering and returning to his full potential for Man City in the upcoming season.
If Rodri decides to extend his stay at the Premier League club, Real Madrid would need to look for an alternative to sign in order to strengthen Xabi Alonso’s squad.
It remains to be seen if Rodri seeks a new challenge at Santiago Bernabeu or decides to help Man City return to their winning ways in the 2025/26 campaign.
