Julian Edelman, the star wide receiver Tom Brady targeted most during their New England Patriots tenure, with 874 career targets, is eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame class of 2026.
Despite modest traditional stats, 6,822 receiving yards and 36 touchdowns, Edelman’s postseason excellence, including multiple Super Bowl rings and a Super Bowl MVP award, is central to his Hall of Fame case.
Edelman’s supporters will highlight his postseason records. He is third in playoff receptions and receiving yards in the league, and his role as a clutch performer during the Patriots’ dynasty enhances his Hall of Fame prospects.
Nevertheless, voters often prioritize career longevity and regular-season production, areas where Edelman’s numbers pale compared to many Hall of Famers.
He is widely expected to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, but more likely as a second or third-ballot selection rather than a first-ballot standout.
He has been voted into the Patriots Hall of Fame in May. Edelman became the 37th inductee in this franchise-level hall, recognized for his integral role. The 2025 Patriots Hall of Fame induction ceremony for Edelman will take place on Sept. 20 at 4 p.m. ET on the Patriot Place Plaza.
