After requesting a trade from the Dallas Cowboys, former Penn State standout Micah Parsons now finds himself in an interesting position. Unless Jerry Jones goes back on his word and tries to get a deal done now, it’s possible that Parsons could be on a different team over the next year or so. It remains uncertain if the Cowboys would ever consider moving on from him, but they might not.

If they do, however, it’ll take a massive haul, and there are only so many teams around the league that could realistically make that trade and also give the Cowboys what they want, as well as give Parsons the type of contract he’s looking for.

At the top of that list would be the New England Patriots, a team Bleacher Report recently proposed a trade to send Parsons to.

Patriots get: Micah Parsons

Cowboys Get: 26 1st-round pick, 2026 2nd-round pick, 2027 1st-round pick, 2027 3rd-round pick

“Therefore, we might as well start the hypothetical bidding with the league-leader in cap space. The New England Patriots have $60 million in space available and a rebuilding roster centered around a second-year quarterback. They could afford to pay Parsons, and doing so would make sense.

“New England has its quarterback in Drake Maye. Adding Parsons would give the Patriots a true centerpiece on the other side of the ball while significantly boosting a pass rush that generated a mere 28 sacks in 2024. Partnering Parsons with offseason additions Milton Williams, Harold Landry III and Carlton Davis would allow the Patriots to take a massive step forward defensively,” Kristopher Knox wrote.

As Bleacher Report touched on, outside of a few holes, the Patriots are in a decent position. They have their future quarterback in Drake Mate, and if they added the former Penn State star, arguably the best defensive player in the NFL, things could turn quickly.

At the very least, he’d be a building block for the Patriots.
