Javon Freeman-Liberty averaged 21 points per game at Summer League for the Chicago Bulls.

That caught the eye of a team Down Under.

According to ESPN’s Olgun Uluc, Freeman-Liberty has agreed to a one-year contract with the Australian NBL’s Brisbane Bullets.

Freeman-Liberty is a 25-year old, 6-foot-4 point guard.

He split his college career between Valparaiso and DePaul.

Freeman-Liberty joined the Toronto Raptors for 22 games in the 2023-24 season. In that stint, he played 18 minutes per game and averaged 7.0 points and 3.2 rebounds.

Last winter, he suited up for the Windy City Bulls in the G League. There, he averaged 19.2 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. He also shot a high volume of 3-pointers and made 35.6% of them.

In addition to his 21 points per game this summer for the Bulls, Freeman-Liberty also put up 6.0 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game.

It’s clear he’s a player just on the cusp of the NBA, but he must’ve felt his best opportunity to continue improving and shining was in the NBL.

“To add a talent of Javon’s caliber to our roster at this stage is really exciting,” Brisbane head coach Stu Lash said via the NBL website. “He’s a hungry player who’s ready to take the next step in his development as a professional. His toughness, ferocity, and willingness to compete make him a natural fit for what we value at the Brisbane Bullets.”

Brisbane finished in eighth place out of 10 teams in the NBL last season. Freeman-Liberty has a chance to boost his career and boost the Bullets in the process.
