The Philadelphia 76ers are coming off an extremely disappointing season, finishing 12th in the East with a lackluster 24-58 record.

However, the team was plagued by injuries. Joel Embiid appeared in just 19 games due mainly to a lingering left knee injury, while Maxey appeared in only 52 games, mostly sidelined by a lower back sprain and sprained finger. Beyond the team’s star duo, Paul George (41 games), Eric Gordon (39 games), Kyle Lowry (35 games) and Jared McCain (23 games) all missed at least half the season.

Now, the 76ers will look to stay healthy and remain competitive after falling short of expectations last year.

While giving back to Philadelphia during a special event for his foundation, Maxey addressed the team’s injury woes and outlined the Sixers’ keys to success next season, according to Ducis Rodgers of WPVI-TV.

“I think the biggest key is just, one, being healthy — that’s one of the biggest keys,” Maxey said. “Honestly, you can’t be good without health. And two, just having continuity, being together, having guys out there, having guys that really want to be out there and do something special.”

The Sixers utilized 30 different players during the 2024-25 campaign, so continuity was certainly a major issue. The team had lofty expectations after signing George to a four-year, $211.6 million deal, but injuries derailed their season.

If Philadelphia — and superstar center Joel Embiid — can stay relatively healthy in a wide-open Eastern Conference, the team has the tools to make noise in the 2025-26 campaign.
